What took effect
The Alabama Board of Pharmacy identifies October 15, 2026, as the effective date for revised Rule 680-X-2-.50 and the new category-specific schedules in Chapter 680-X-A. The proposals were adopted without changes on August 19.12
The rule assigns up to 30 points for misconduct, 50 for public-health risk, and 20 for compliance history. The resulting percentage informs the amount within the relevant schedule. The Board may depart from that advisory calculation, but cannot exceed the schedule’s maximum. An upward departure exceeding 15 percent requires a brief written explanation. This is not an automatic fine.2
Use the framework to organize the record
Chad’s analysis: Treat the schedule as a risk-assessment tool, not a prediction of the outcome in an individual matter. Maintain one record of the alleged conduct, potential harm, prior enforcement history, corrective steps, and supporting documentation. Review that record before responding to a Board inquiry so the organization can distinguish disputed facts from completed remediation and explain the relevant circumstances.
